Harmony Court continues to demonstrate we are just brand new inside and out. We are growing by leaps and bounds.  This local favourite has achieved a top 2 placement in Burnaby as the local best choice in retirement living.

Seniors of Distinction Awards 2011

In honour of October 1st, the International Day of the Older Person, AgeCare along with its very committed partners have created the "Seniors of Distinction Awards". The awards program takes place in Lethbridge, Brooks, Medicine Hat and Burnaby each year to recognize those seniors who are making a difference in the lives of others - each and every day.

Organizations like AgeCare and our partners know that our seniors or "older people" are the new power. They are, and will continue to, contribute their vast resources to our society, as our demographics change to show that seniors are creating a demographic revolution. They are the "new power".

Together we are so proud to recognize and celebrate the contributions, achievements and diversity of seniors in our communities. The Seniors of Distinction Awards are an opportunity to recognize all seniors who share their culture and talents, enrich our communities and enhance the well-being of those around them.

New Model of Care for Seniors with Dementia

Rosewood Neighbourhood

Harmony Court Care Centre, Burnaby, B.C.

Posted: June 3, 2011

Fraser Health and AgeCare marked the grand opening of Rosewood Neighbourhood at Harmony Court Care Centre, the first model of care designed for medically stable, independently mobile seniors with dementia for Fraser Health.

AgeCare has renovated and created 25 private suites on the main floor of Harmony Court.  This specialized setting provides a safe and secure environment emphasizing the resident abilities rather than losses.  A secure courtyard has been created, the new Hearthstone Lounge with fireplace and quiet conversation space and the ever popular demonstration kitchen area for baking and other fun pursuits.

Rosewood neighbourhood provides families with a unique care solution for a loved on who is not longer able to live on their own, or can no longer supported in an Assisted Living setting.  This program is called "Alternative Care Model - Dementia".

Minister of Health, Michael de Jong states "This new model of care will allow the growing number of seniors with dementia to remain in their community, and close to friends."

AgeCare begins the Accreditation Process Completed

Posted - April, 2010

AgeCare in its commitment to quality, has entered into a partnership with Accreditation Canada.  Accreditation Canada is an external peer review process to assess and improve services based on national standards of excellence. All hospitals and long term care centres must be accredited.

Surveyors from Accreditation Canada visited AgeCare communities in the fall of 2010 and review documents, observe staff and care practices, interview key stakeholders and community partners.  From this process, results are then shared with AgeCare.

We are proud to announce that we are a fully Accredited community and thank our staff for our very successful achievement. Accreditation is a voluntary process and indicates our commitment to quality and services, but encouraging a third party audit process.
